How To: Teams Tips

Have you ran into a problem with teams? Perhaps a camera issue, or menus missing important items? We have and so we’re here to pass along our findings to you.

Many posts will suggest several common, usual suspect fixes such as updating drivers, restarting the computer, disabling conflicting applications (skype etc), privacy settings, permissions. So we’re not going to do that. It’s understood that you’ve tried all of those things already and for whatever reason, teams is still not working for you.

Check the Edition of Teams you have Installed

There are two versions “work and school” and “home or personal”. When you pick the home and personal version, there are differences between the options that are available.

One of the issues we found is that the personal version is not able to control our camera properly. All apps on the PC were able to control the camera, and even teams would show the camera feed to the other party in the meet, but you could not see the other party, or your own feed.

So if you are banging your head against the wall and having issues getting teams to work, jump over to Microsoft’s website and install the “Work or School” edition. That may just fix it up for you.
